Titanium nitride (TiN; sometimes referred to as Tinite) is an extremely hard ceramic material commonly used as a coating for titanium alloys, steel, carbides, and aluminum components to improve the surface properties of the substrate.
Purity: 99.9%
CAS: 25583-20-4
Titanium nitride (TiN) is a fairly stable compound that does not react with metals such as iron, chromium, calcium, and magnesium at high temperatures. TiN crucibles do not react with acidic or alkaline slag in CO and N atmospheres. Therefore, TiN crucibles are excellent containers for studying the interaction between molten steel and certain elements. TiN loses nitrogen by heating in vacuum, generating titanium nitride with lower nitrogen content.
TiN has attractive gold, high melting point, high hardness, good chemical stability, and metal wettability, as well as high conductivity and superconductivity. It can be applied to high-temperature structural materials and superconducting materials.
