Titanium diboride (TiB2) is an extremely hard ceramic with excellent thermal conductivity, a hexagonal (AlB2) crystal structure, oxidative stability and resistance to mechanical attack. Titanium dioxide 2 is also a reasonable conductor of electricity and is mainly used in the preparation of composite ceramic products because it resists corrosion of molten metals and can be used to make molten metal crucibles and electrolyzer electrodes.
Purity: 99.9%
CAS: 12045-63-5
The current usage of TiB2 seems to be limited to professional applications in areas such as impact resistant armor, cutting tools, crucibles, neutron absorbers, and wear-resistant coatings.
Titanium dioxide is widely used in evaporation boats for aluminum plating. It is an attractive material in the aluminum industry as an inoculant that can refine grain size when casting aluminum alloys due to its wettability, low solubility in molten aluminum, and good conductivity.
TiB2 thin films can be used to provide wear and corrosion resistance for inexpensive and/or tough substrates.
