What is a Europium Sputtering Target?


A Europium sputtering target is a sputtering target composed of high-purity metallic europium, typically shaped as a planar target, although custom shapes can be made to meet the technical requirements of different application scenarios. With a melting point of 822°C and a density of 5.24 g/cm3, these physical properties provide high stability during the sputtering process, ensuring good material utilization efficiency. 


Europium sputtering targets can be used to prepare films or coatings, which can be either pure europium or europium compounds. For example, europium-based films are commonly used in the fields of electronic devices, optical coatings, and magnetic materials to achieve unique optical, magnetic, or electrical properties. Through precise sputtering processes, the thickness and composition of the films can be controlled, allowing for fine-tuning at the nanoscale.

Displays

Preparation Process of Europium Sputtering Targets


Raw Material Preparation


Prepare high-purity metal europium as the raw material.


Melting


Place the europium raw material in a vacuum melting furnace, and melt it at high temperature to form a uniform liquid state.


Casting


Pour the melted europium liquid into a mold to form the target shape.


Processing


Process the cast target, such as grinding and polishing, to achieve the required surface finish and dimensional accuracy.


Cleaning


Clean the processed target to remove surface dirt and impurities.


Packaging


Package the cleaned target to protect its surface from contamination.


Europium sputtering targets are prone to oxidation. As a preventive measure, Zhiyue typically seals the product in oil to prevent oxidation. To ensure that europium targets are safely delivered to customers, Zhiyue also uses cushioning materials and ships them in boxes or crates.
